Tint, dye, and henna are all substances that can be used to change the colour of hair and some offer skin stain, but they work in different ways and have different properties. Here are some of the main differences between the three:
- Lash and Brow Tint is a cream based chemical product that is mixed with oxidant/developer at the time of treatment ,then applied to the lash or brow hair. The oxidant opens the cuticle of the hair where it enters the cortex and partners with the client’s own natural colour molecules, it is wiped off (some like to wash away) after a certain amount of time. It is a temporary colour that lasts from a few days to a week depending on the client. Tint is fairly gentle, especially a product like Oxygen O2 by BrowXenna, as it contains nourishing ingredients consisting of oat proteins, liquid silk, panthenol, vitamins, and keratin. The modern formula contributes to stable and even colouring and protects hairs during the colouring process.
- Lash and Brow Dye is similar to Tint but the product contains more chemicals and darker pigments that have the ability to stain the skin, it can be more harsh and damaging than tint, and the darker pigments may be more prone to have allergic reactions. It can last on the skin up to 7 days and t and 4-6 weeks on the hair shaft.
- Brow Henna is a natural plant-based dye that is used to colour hair and skin. It is made from the leaves of the henna plant (lawsonia) and comes in a dry powder form. At the time of treatment it is mixed with a mineral solution (some people use distilled water) to create a paste similar to soy sauce that can be applied to the skin and hair. Brow Henna attaches itself to the skin in a similar way as a spray tan, on the hair shaft it penetrates the cuticle (does not open the cuticle) enters the cortex, where it partners with the client’s own natural colour molecules. Brow Henna has many beautiful qualities such as last on the skin 7-14 days, lasts on hair shaft 4-6 weeks, naturally nourishing for the hair shaft and puts a protective barrier around each hair, has anti-bacterial and cooling properties, balances ph. level of the skin. BrowXenna has a range of 15 shades.
